Luka Modrić (born September 9, 1985) is a Croatian professional footballer who plays as a Real Madrid midfielder and is the captain of the Croatian national team.

Modrić plays mainly as a central midfielder, but can also play as an attacking midfielder or defensive midfielder, usually deployed as a deep player.

Modrić is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders of his generation and one of the best Croatian footballers of all time.

Able to combine the traditional theater game and trequartista effectively, he is known for his vision, his precision of execution and his tactical strategy.
